Abstract

Objectives: This study was attempted to understand the factors affecting suicidal behavior of adolescents from multicultural families and adolescents from non-multicultural families.
Methods: An analysis of 39,987 people was conducted using raw data from ¡°the 16th (2020) Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey¡± and Rao-Scott x2-test and multivariate logistics regression analysis using the IBM SPSS Ver.27.0 program.
Results: While most variables of mental health and problem behavior affect adolescents from non-multicultural families, the overall risk cost of adolescents from multicultural families is higher than that of adolescents from non-multicultural families.
Conclusions: To prevent suicidal behavior among adolescents, mental health factors and problematic behavior factors need to be systematically managed. In particular, the experience of depression, violent damages, and drug experience are factors that represent a very high risk for suicidal behavior in multicultural families, so continuous management and development of educational programs that can be practically helpful is required.
